I’ve been trawling the archive for something vaguely related to Sir Henry’s in Cork, the subject of an upcoming exhibtion at UCC Library hence today’s post. Burning Embers were Sean O’Neill (vocals), John Poland (guitars), Niall Macken (keyboards), Mel Poland (bass), Gordon Ashe (drums). They recorded this session for Dave Fanning on November 17th 1986.
around that time (late 80s/early 90s) a fair few Cork bands used to come to Kilkenny, playing Hendersons (Belsonic Sound, Cypress Mine!, Burning Embers). I remember stuff on B/Sound; anything on Cypress Mine!? They were great too.
I remember listening to that session after John Poland said to listen in. My band IDOL JOY were on the scene at the same period 85-88 and I held this band in very high esteem. Shared a lot of bills in the day. Great Days…
