For The Record on RTE Gold

Radio and TV producer (and sometime Dave Fanning standin) Pat O’Mahony is above all else a music fan and collector. The second series of his RTE Gold show ‘For The Record‘ has just ended and very enjoyable it was too. Pat visited the homes of 10 different personalities, some from the music business and others simply big music fans. Among other things Pat grills them on their earliest and favourite purchases and susses out how much vinyl they have and if they still listen to it. Pat did travel with a record deck in case some of our would-be “vinyl fanatics” had lapsed. He also did a certain amount of seal cracking in some homes where the most recent arrivals were, shock horror, still in their virgin state. Season 2 saw Pat visit Joe Rooney of Guernica, Evelyn Cusack, chef Paul Flynn, Julie Feeney, producer Bill Hughes, music manager Fachtna O Ceallaigh, Niamh Kavanagh, artist Jim Fitzpatrick, Ivana Bacik and Dave Fanning. Season 1 featured Luke O’Neill, Eleanor Shanley, Mike Hanrahan of Stockton’s Wing, Aidan Gillen and Camille O’Sullivan, DJ Lilian Smith, chef Neven Maguire and Bronagh Gallagher. Each show is available in two versions, the 54 minute broadcast or an extended version additional musical choices. Fingers crossed there will be a Season 3 Pat.
