A Wee Night For Uaneen (2001)

‘A Wee Night For Uaneen’ was a tribute concert in memory of the much loved RTE 2fm broadcaster Uaneen Fitzimons who died tragically on 22nd November 2000. The show took place on Sunday 4th March 2001 in the Olympia Theatre and featured Ash, Bell X1, The Blue Nile, Paddy Casey, The Devlins, The Frames, David Kitt, Mundy, Gavin Friday, Sinead O’Connor, Relish, Sack, Snow Patrol, The Undertones and Wilt. 2. Really looking forward to the full show.

  3. Thanks for this 🙂 The Blue Nile tracks are 1. Easter Parade 2.Tomorrow Morning 3. All the Way (which apparently was the only time they ever performed the song)

  4. Thanks Kieran, updated now!

  5. Thanks so much for sharing this! At a time when girl power typically meant the Spice Girls, Uaneen’s reassuring knowledgeable, enthusiastic and all round wonderful presence on radio & tv gave hope to us indie/grungey girls that there was future for us out there too. There are many of us Irish women of a certain age who were inspired by her then; and continue to be now. Her name & memory live on.

  6. Thanks Ita, comments like yours help me keep going, sometimes I think it’s just me 😉

  7. Never just you, your site is just a wonderful treasure trove and archive for the ages – so thanks for doing what you do – it’s so appreciated!
