microdisney 2018

Excitement is building for the upcoming Microdisney shows in the National Concert Hall Dublin June 2nd and the Barbican London on June 9th.  Sean O’Hagan and Cathal Coughlan of the band dropped in to the BBC Radio 6 studio yesterday for an interview with Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie. The million dollar question was posed (will there be more shows?), as to the answer.. well you’ll just have to listen in. Watch Sean and Cathal perform ‘Dolly’ as part of the Barbican sessions here. Following up on his recent audio documentary Paul McDermott has just published an oral history of the band.

Addendum: On May 30th in the days leading up to the momentous reunion in the National Concert Hall Sean and Cathal dropped in to the Newstalk studios to talk to Tom Dunne.

VINYL (Dublin) takes place this weekend at the Royal Hospital Kilmainham. Comprising musicians, producers, designers and filmmakers specially convened to celebrate the history of vinyl the three-day event features specially programmed talks, panel discussions and musical performances. The list of interviewers and interviewees is a who’s who of the music industry, needless to say if time and money were no object we’d be there. As consolation this post collects the radio interviews promoting the event.

David also appeared on the Tom Dunne and Paul McLoone shows. Paul will interview fellow Undertones members Michael Bradley and Damian O’Neill on Saturday. Tom interviews Christy Dignam, Joe Jewell and Billy McGuinness of Aslan on Saturday and Steve and Joe Wall of The Stunning on Sunday.
