‘How Soon Is Now?’ by Richard King

I’ve just finished reading ‘How Soon Is Now?: The Madmen and Mavericks who made Independent Music 1975-2005‘ by Richard King. The book looks at a number of the biggest UK indie labels of the last 30 years; Factory, Rough Trade, Mute, 4AD, Beggars Banquet, Warp, Creation and Domino. Whilst not perfect and definitely not an advertisement for a career in the music business the book proved nevertheless a very interesting journey down memory lane and is well worth picking up in your local bookshop. See also ‘Our Band Could Be Your Life: Scenes from the American Indie Underground 1981-1991‘ by Michael Azerrad.
