The Partisans were a post Blades Paul Cleary vehicle which featured Conor Brady (guitar), Damien McGoona (bass, ex No Name Band) and Tony Smyth (brother of The Bogey Boys’ Jimmy Smyth, also ex No Name Band) (drums). They released a 7 track mini LP on Hotwire Records in 1987 from which they released one single ‘I’m Doing Fine’. The Partisans released one further single ‘Open Your Eyes’ on Hotwire in 1988 followed by a single ‘Different Dance’ in 1989 on Trap Records. Paul Cleary’s next release was a solo album ‘Crooked Town’ on Reekus in 2001. Conor Brady went on to feature on The Commitments soundtrack and toured with The Corrs. Most recently he has played with Jerry Fish And The Mudbug Club but is now concentrating on production at his Phonic Studios where he worked in March 2009 with Stars Of Heaven and Revenants man Stephen Ryan.
