The Devlins (1990)

Two years before the release of their first single and three years before they released their Daniel Lanois produced debut Dave Fanning played this track by Colin and Peter Devlin otherwise known as The Devlins. The band was formed in Dublin but they soon moved to the U.S where they found fame and fortune releasing four albums along the way.

Apologies for the quality of this clip, I need to double check if the original sounded like this. Thanks to Peter Devlin for some further detail, apparently this was The Devlins first ever demo, and he doesn’t have a copy. Joey Pleass (The Dixons) was on drums. They binned it & did more demos, some of which made it on to the first album, but this wasn’t one of the songs they played to labels. Director Stephen St Ledger (‘Lockout’) did his first demo video for this song. Incidentally, John Moore (Max Payne, Behind Enemy Lines, Die Hard) did the video for The Devlins first single (‘I Knew That’).
