The Golden Horde

The grandaddys of Irish indie rock? You either loved or hated The Golden Horde and frontman Simon Carmody with his penchant for fake tiger skin atire but it was very hard to avoid them on the Irish music scene in the late 80s. Featuring Bernie Furlong (vocals), Des O’Byrne (guitar), Donal Murray (bass), Peter O’Kennedy (drums), The Golden Horde were responsible for one of the most sublime moments of pure unadulterated pop brilliance this listener has ever heard. Today’s track however is from their first Fanning session from September 1984..

Teenage Head

Update: The Golden Horde take over the world wide web.
To celebrate here’s a bonus track. If you want to do some trainspotting have a look at the gigography and try to remember when you saw them. Spot Maria McKee in this video. Check out all members of The Golden Horde family. There’s also a MySpace page.
